Melbourne Play-Based Kindergarten Photographer

Who am I?

My name is Sarah, and I’m a Melbourne based family, newborn, and early childhood photographer. I live in the eastern suburbs with my husband and two young boys.

At Sarah Ann Photography, I specialise in play-based kindergarten photography, capturing the genuine joy, connection, and curiosity that define early childhood. My approach is fresh, relaxed, and unobtrusive, I blend into the background, allowing children to express their unique personalities naturally. This ensures that every photograph reflects their true spirit, creating timeless memories for families.

I would love the opportunity to photograph the children in your care.

My Approach

In my kindergarten photo sessions, I focus on capturing the genuine moments of joy and curiosity that define this special time in a child’s life. Rather than asking children to pose and smile for the camera, I prefer to observe and document them as they naturally engage with their surroundings and activities.

Whether they’re exploring the playground, participating in a group activity, or immersed in a favourite book, I aim to capture the essence of each child’s unique personality and the magic of their everyday adventures at kindergarten.

How does it all work?

From the Kinder’s Perspective

I understand that the workload of a kindergarten teacher is huge as it is. I aim to make this process as smooth as possible for the kindergarten.

After selecting a week that works for both of us, I will send an email to the kinder with all of the necessary links and information that I kindly request be passed on to all parents.

In the weeks leading up to photo week, I will request the names of each child in each class.

Photo days are calm and easygoing, giving children time to feel comfortable with me throughout the session. My play-based approach captures candid moments of them playing freely. We’ll also work together to take a group photo, ensuring everyone feels relaxed and included.

For more information about what it’s like to work with me, check out this blog post.

From the Parents’ Perspective

Within a couple of weeks of photo week, the children’s galleries are ready to view. I will deliver hand-outs to the kinder with each child’s name and unique password, along with instructions and a QR code that is for that specific kinder.

The parents will then have two weeks to select their images and place their order.

Once the orders are received, I will deliver any prints/albums to the kindergarten for parents to pick up (saving them on shipping fees).
